Obituary for Anthony J. Dennigan

Anthony “Tony” Dennigan, 87, of Tinton Falls, NJ passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 7, 2022.

Tony was born September 5, 1934 in Longford, Ireland, son of the late John and Margaret Dennigan.  He is survived by his wife, Mary Dennigan (nee Shannon), his sisters Nuala Killian and Noreen Newman-Smith from England and his children Lorraine Mitsiopoulos of Middletown, NJ, and her husband Jim and sons Alex and Ryan; Michael Dennigan of Milford, CT, and his wife Kerry, son Brady and daughter Laura; Tricia Sirico of Red Bank, NJ and her husband Chris and son Liam. 

Tony was preceded in death by his wife Sheila Dennigan, sister Mary Muldowney, and brothers John and Christopher Dennigan. 

Tony immigrated from Ireland to the United States in 1954 and joined the U.S. Army the following year.  After his service in the Army, Tony graduated from Iona College.  He then had a 37 year career at J.C. Penney in New York and Dallas, TX.  When he moved to Texas, he discovered his passion for golf.

Tony was a founding member of East Brunswick Soccer Club.  He was an avid sports fan of the New York Giants, New York Yankees and Manchester United.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to Irish and country music, and dancing. 

Over the past several years, Tony enjoyed spending time with his loving team of caregivers “Tony’s Angels”:  Janice, Dottie, Debi, Debbie, Susan, Barbara, Kim, Marie and Josia. Tony was surrounded by love, kindness and compassion each and every day. 

Visitation will be held Friday, February 11th, from 4 pm to 8 pm at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Rte 35 @ New Bedford Road, Wall, NJ 07719.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 12th, at 10 am at Holy Innocents Church, 3455 West Bangs Avenue, Neptune, NJ, 07753, followed by burial at Saint Anne Cemetery, 1610 Allenwood Road, Wall, NJ  07719.  To send condolences please visit www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
