Obituary for Arthur W. "Artie" Burke Sr.

Arthur W. Burke, Sr., 72, of Point Pleasant and formerly of Brick died suddenly from injuries sustained from a motor vehicle while trying to cross the street on Saturday, August 3, 2019 in Brick. Mr. Burke worked for 32 years at Verizon in Brooklyn as a repairman before retiring in 1999. He then became a driver at the Pioneer Bus Company in Staten Island for over 10 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 8160 in Brick.

Born and raised in the Carrol Gardens section of Brooklyn, he lived in the Princess Bays section of Staten Island for many years until moving to Brick in 2004 and finally Point Pleasant Boro a year ago.

Arthur was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, William and Elizabeth Burke; father, Arthur Burke and his mother, Anna Consadine; and daughter, Kellie Anne Burke in 2003.

Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia Anne (Lord) Burke; daughter, Tricia Anne Laino and her husband, Joseph of Staten Island; sons, Arthur W. Burke, Jr. of Staten Island and William Patrick Burke and his wife, Martha of Brooklyn; brother, Robert Burke and his wife, Maria of Brooklyn; and 3 grandchildren, Patrick, Amber and Ryan.

Visiting will be on Wednesday, August 7 from 4-8pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, August 8 at 11am at St. Martha’s RC Church in Point Pleasant. A cremation will be held privately and his cremated remains will eventually be interred at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island with his daughter, Kellie Anne.
