Obituary for Ashley Rose Mitchell

Ashley Rose Mitchell, 29, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Elmer NJ. She was born in Union, NJ on May 2, 1989. She later attended school in Brick and Woodstown NJ. After Ashley graduated from Woodstown High School; she attended and graduated from Salem County Community College. Next, she went onto DeVry University in North Brunswick and completed all coursework, majoring in Graphic Arts. Ashley forged her way through school independently, working very hard to accomplish these academic achievements.
Early childhood in Union, Ashley played soccer and participated very actively in Girls Scouts. Being as athletic and very competitive that she was, Ashley went on to play Softball and Basketball in Woodstown. To the day, she always loved playing B-ball with friends and family as “one of the boyz”.
Ashley was very artistic and really loved taking pictures. Supporting herself and always being a very hard worker, she had recently started her business known as: Ashley Mitchell Photography. Since being a girl scout, Ashley always had a very strong work ethic and a hard drive to achieve her goals.
Unfortunately, very sadly, Ashley was recently diagnosed with Huntington’s disease. HD is a fatal neurological disease that degenerately takes your life. Miserably, she was the latest victim of HD, which has decimated the Mitchell Family. But…Amazing Ashley, even with this incurable fatal diagnosis, immediately became an even larger Champion in the fight for a cure of HD. With the devastation the disease has inflicted on the generations of the Mitchell Family, Ashley was utterly impassioned to raise awareness and money for HD and was most recently writing a book. She wanted to share a family chronology, a life history of the affects on her personally and predeceased family.
Family and friends will sadly miss her awesome smile, her great sense of humor, her passion for life, and her “raising one eyebrow” face, like the Rock.
Visiting will be on Sunday from 2-6pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday 10am at St. Dominic’s RC Church, Brick. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Donations may be made in her name to the Huntington Disease Foundation, PO Box 943, Denville NJ 07834.
