Obituary for Barbara Ann Golaszewski
Barbara Ann Golaszewski, loving mother and devoted wife, 84, of Four Seasons in Wall, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019.
Mrs. Golaszewski (nee Avella) was born in Jersey City and raised in North Bergen and Union City. She graduated from Emerson High School before graduating from both Christ Hospital School of Nursing and Jersey City State College. She began her nursing career at Christ Hospital before moving on to Overlook Hospital. She then became a school nurse, as well as a teacher, in the Union County Regional Schools System, and eventually at Arthur L. Johnson Regional High School, from which she retired. Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, James G. Golaszewski, who is heartbroken at the loss of his Barbara Ann. Barbara and Jim enjoyed traveling, as well as summering at their beach homes at Barnegat Light on LBI. After many years in Garwood they settled in Wall 21 years ago.
Barbara was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Barbara Jean, in 2011, as well as by her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Morty Presby. She is survived by her son, Steven J. Golaszewski, of Brielle, and his companion, Lisa Hornick. She is also survived by her nieces, Lorrie Presby and Gina Walsh, and her nephew, Mark Presby, as well as her goddaughter Joanne Gifford, and many loving cousins. Barbara will be missed by her dog MiMi.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Thursday, September 26, 2019, from 3-6 PM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake, on Friday, September 27, 2019, at 10:30 AM, followed by entombment at St. Catharine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Golaszewski’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, at www.stjude.org. Condolences may be sent via www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
