Obituary for Barbara M. Kleissler

Barbara (Erving) Kleissler, born on May 16, 1933, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 23, 2023.

She leaves behind her five sons: Lee and Lavonda Curtis, David J. Curtis and Norma, Everett Curtis, III and Tammy, Peter Curtis and Paul Curtis.  In addition to her sons she is survived by her grandchildren Corin Curtis, David Curtis and Jessica Curtis as well as her great-grandson Cooper.  She is pre-deceased by her spouses Everett Curtis, Jr. who passed away thirty-nine years ago and  Arthur Kleissler who passed away seventeen years ago.

Barbara raised her family in Point Pleasant, NJ and lived there for over thirty years. She took great pride in her family and spent much time attending their sporting events and many activities.  For approximately twelve years, she worked  in various cafeterias for the Point Pleasant school system and was an advocate for good nutrition for the students.  Barbara was also an avid reader and bingo player, loved playing cards with her family and friends and enjoyed the occasional trip to Atlantic City.  The last nine years of her life she lived at Chambers Bridge Residence where she was a well-loved member of various social groups.  She had a reputation as a wonderful baker and a favorite was her crumb cake, which her many friends would ask for when they would get together.  

Calling hours will be at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd @ Hwy 70, Brick, NJ on Monday, March 27, 2023 from 4 - 7pm.  There will be a funeral service at O’ Brien at 10am on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. She will be laid to rest with her spouse Everett Curtis at Monmouth Memorial Park, 4201 Rt. 33, Tinton Falls, NJ.
