Obituary for Beverly R Strick

Toms River, New Jersey - Beverly R. Strick (née Levy), age 93, passed away on February 4, 2021 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. She made a valiant fight against the Coronavirus, putting her entire heart into it, as she did with all things throughout her lifetime. In the end the virus took her, as it has so many. But it will never overcome her legacy of exuberance, compassion, and love.

Beverly was born and raised in Far Rockaway, New York, where she developed a deep love for the ocean and the boardwalk. As a young lady, she worked for ten years at Macy’s on 34th Street in New York City. She later married and settled in New Jersey and raised her family. She had a strong work ethic, working for twenty-two years at Charles of the Ritz in Hazlet. While living in New Jersey, she cherished trips to the Collingswood and Englishtown markets with her family. After retiring, she moved to Margate, Florida, where she flourished in the sun for over a quarter of a century. She loved to participate in entertainment variety shows with her friends and neighbors and to visit Disney World with “The Golden Girls”, her dear friends Pauline and Evelyn. She was a good athlete, legendary for having shot a hole-in-one during her first golf outing. She was a wonderful cook and had a fantastic sense of humor and loved to laugh. Bev was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was a uniquely genuine person who made you feel better just by being around her. And she was fun to be around!

Beverly was predeceased by her parents Ida and Herman Levy, her husband Robert Strick, her sister Thelma and her husband Oscar Alterson, her sister Anita and her husband Buddy Engelson, and her brother Harold Levy and his wife Lottie. She is survived by her four children: Jane and her husband John Adams of Neptune, NJ; Joel Strick and his wife Lynn of Austin, TX; Ellen and her husband Daniel Jamieson of Point Pleasant, NJ; and Ira Strick of Whiting, NJ. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Christine, Richard, Sara, Matthew, Nicholas, Michael, and Emily, along with five great-grandchildren: Cadence, William, Abigail, Catherine and Hannah and many nieces, nephews and friends who were always concerned with her well-being. Beverly was the matriarch of the family. She sparkled.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living of Toms River for treating Beverly as if she were a member of their own family for the past eight years.

Rest well Mom, as you continue your journey.
