Obituary for Brian J. Venables

Brian J. Venables, 62 of Wall, NJ passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Ocean Medical Center with his beloved family near his side.

Brian had an unrivaled passion for living, an intense dedication to everything he put his mind to, and a larger than life personality that lit up every room he walked into.

Brian grew up in Garden City, NY where he was a star football and lacrosse player leading him to continue his career at the University of New Hampshire. There, as fate would have it, Brian met the absolute love of his life and soulmate, Sara on St. Patrick’s Day in 1980. They went on to marry at St. Catharine Church 35 years ago and settled down at the Jersey Shore where they built their beautiful life together.

Brian’s pride and joy was his wife Sara and the amazing family they created. Nothing made him smile more than the achievements of his 5 children, their spouses and his growing set of grandchildren. He cherished every moment they were all together.

Among his most treasured memories were nights filled with great food, endless stories, and lots of laughter with his closest friends who he considered more like family. He also loved cruising down the ski slopes and spending time on the golf course with his best buddies.

Brian was an entrepreneur through and through. Over the years, he and Sara built their own travel retail business - taking them to many destinations throughout the world. More recently, he found a greater calling with Jersey Mike’s through their mission and the people whose lives he touched along the way.

Brian was an incredible person who will be missed by all that were lucky enough to know him. His amazing legacy will continue to live on in his absence.

Predeceased by his mother Eileen Claire (McHugh) Venables, Brian is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years Sara (Mittelmann) Venables, his beloved children and their spouses Michael and Jocelyn Venables, Joseph and Andrea Venables, Alexandra and Josh Gray, Jessica and Brian O’Loughlin and Samantha and Evan Lang, his grandchildren Isabella, Lilliana, Everly, Marlee, and Blakeleigh, his father Joseph J. Venables, his siblings Steven and Janice Venables, Thomas and Luane Venables, Scott Venables, and Eileen and Edward Lundy, Sara’s father Michael Mittelmann, and her siblings Gregory and Ann Mittelmann and Alexander and Pilar Mittelmann as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
