Obituary for Catherine Mary Walski (Boylan)

Catherine Boylan Walski, 76, of Brick passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 8, 2019 surrounded by her family. Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1942, Catherine spent her early years in Kingston, PA before settling in Brick with her husband, Peter Walski.
After having her children, Cathy pursued a degree in elementary education from Georgian Court University in Lakewood. Cathy enjoyed a 25 year career as a sixth grade teacher at Hugh J. Boyd Elementary School in Seaside Heights. She loved her job, colleagues, and students. Cathy was kind, compassionate, and lovingly loyal. Her warm and welcoming personality, along with her fun sense of humor made her easy to love.
Cathy had a strong faith and a deep love for family, friends, music, and laughter. She enjoyed spending summer days with a good book on the beach. Cathy and Peter were blessed with six grandchildren, she was happiest when spending time with them.
Cathy was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Joseph Boylan; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Lawrence Curtis; her brother, Patrick Boylan; and her sister, Elizabeth Miner.
Surviving are her loving husband of 56 years, Pete; her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Laura Walski of Brick; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and James Wallace of Brick; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Janet Boylan of Sarasota, FL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jo and Ed Vancavage of Kingston, PA, Rosalie and Frank Baur of Forty Fort, PA and Margaret and Andy McDermott of Fairport, NY; her sister-in-law, Marge Boylan of Brick; and her grandchildren, Carli and Brian Curtis, Riley and Peter Walski, and Jenna and Erica Wallace. She will be especially missed by her many nieces and nephews who all adore her.
The family would like to thank the staff of Holy Redeemer Hospice for their service, especially, Judith, Barbara, Lori and Sonya as well as her caregivers, Shirley, Sue, Natalie, Trish and Karen.
Visiting will be on Thursday from 4-8pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday 9:30am at St. Martha’s RC Church, Point Pleasant. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. Donations may be made in her name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
