Charles William B Goble, “Bill,” age 80, of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away on February 14, 2023 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center surrounded by friends. He was born in Washington, D.C., grew up in Helmetta , and Princeton, NJ, and summered in Mantoloking, where his family moved permanently in 1974. Upon his parents passing, Bill moved to Sea Gardens Condominiums in Point Pleasant Beach.
After graduating from Princeton High School, Bill worked at the Walker Gordon Dairy Farm for 10 years. After which, Bill worked for SS Kresgee-Kmart Corp for over 35 years. He was very proud of his work accomplishments due to his work ethic, honesty and integrity. Bill was an avid bicycle rider around town and made many new friends on his journeys.
Bill was a very popular man in town with a good sense of humor. Everybody in the community loved and cared for him. He was kind and always had an interesting story to share. As a real history and geography buff, Bill would deny any challenge to his statement of the facts.
As a member of the Mantoloking Yacht Club, he often joined his father for a sail on Barnegat Bay. Bill was twice recognized for his volunteer work around the club. He was a dedicated life member of the Mantoloking Fire Company for 49 years and an enthusiastic volunteer for Save Barnegat Bay from its inception. The Mantoloking Fire Company meant the world to Bill and he treasured the relationships he made with each member. Bill was predeceased by his loving parents, John and Faith Bumstead Goble.
He is survived by his siblings, John Goble of Texas, Christopher Goble and his wife Virginia of Texas, and Blanche Goble Mansfield of New York and his niece and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday March 18, 2023 from 12-2pm with a religious service to begin at 1:30pm at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd, in Brick.
