Charles Thomas McGurk, 66, of the Wanamassa section of Ocean Twp. passed away peacefully at his home Sunday morning, March 14, 2021. Charles was a road man and handled the sign department for Ocean Township Public Works. Most of his work with signs can be seen posted throughout the town. Charles was also the Shop Steward for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 701. He was a parishioner of Holy Spirit Church in Asbury Park and was a member of the APA Billiards League and enjoyed playing pool on Thursday nights.
Charles was predeceased by his wife Eileen “Mickey” McGurk, his parents Mary and Thomas McGurk, and his brother James McGurk. Surviving are his children Sean T. McGurk and his wife Evelyn, Erin C. Henderson and her husband Jim, 5 grandchildren Emma and Hailey Henderson, Delaney, Donovan, and McKenna McGurk, and his 3 siblings, Rich McGurk, Martha Harth and her husband George, Eileen Kastanas and many other family and friends that knew and loved him. He always left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Charles loved spending time with his family, cooking, and enjoying the times he had with them. His most treasured role was being Pop Pop to his grandchildren who he treasured deeply. He will be loved and missed by everyone that knew him.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 1-4 pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, March 18, 2021, 1030 am at Holy Spirit Church, 705 2nd Ave., Asbury Park, NJ. Committal will be private. To send condolences please visit www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
