Obituary for Christopher Jon "Mr. G" Grenda, Esq.

Tucson, AZ – Christopher Jon Grenda, a.k.a. Mr. G, 46, of Brick Township, NJ was called to heaven on Friday October 25th to eternally entertain with his musical talent. On earth Chris was the loving son of Nancy Grenda and friend to many.

Chris was born in Norman, OK in 1973 and was primarily raised in Brick Township, NJ. Chris was a graduate of Brick Memorial High School where he was a member of the Football and Wrestling teams and was a standout member of the Drama Club and the Air Force JROTC program. After high school, Chris went on to honorably serve his nation in The United States Marine Corps before graduating from Brick Computer Science Institute, and then receiving his bachelor’s degree at Limestone College in Gaffney, SC. Chris went on to earn his Juris Doctorate at Thomas M. Cooley Law school in Lansing, MI, and was admitted to the NJ Bar Association in 2010. He served his community honorably since then both as a prosecutor and as a defense lawyer.

With all that Chris was able to achieve during his life, his most cherished accomplishment was his music. An accomplished guitarist and vocalist, Mr. G’s power trio rocked the Jersey Shore’s original music scene since the mid 90’s. Chris was a gifted singer and songwriter, and his best work came on his 2nd studio album eMeRGe. In the late 1990’s Chris had a vision and set his sights on developing a better model for the local music scene at the Jersey Shore. It was this passion that led him to found G-Fest, which started on a backyard stage in Brick, and then grew to prominence across the Jersey Shore as Local Jamz, a local music festival designed to showcase the diverse and powerful talents of Mr. G and many other local artists.

Chris is survived by his mother Nancy Grenda. He will also be forever remembered by his family, loyal friends, classmates, and past co-workers.

Family and friends are invited to remember Mr. G by lifting a glass of their favorite drink, downloading your favorite Mr. G song, and by attending his memorial service on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 2 to 6 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, NJ 08724.
