Obituary for Dorothy June Lintott (Radzniak)

Dorothy June Lintott of Brick died at her home on June 12, 2022, just a week after she celebrated her 90th birthday surrounded by the love and laughter of family and friends. Dorothy June was born on June 1, 1932 to John and Therese Radzniak, her birthday winning her the middle and nick name of “June.” In addition to “June,” she went by many names to those who loved her including Dot, Dottie, Junie, and, most affectionately, by her children and grandchildren, Junebug. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband Jack, eight siblings: Ann, Walter, Joe, May, Jeanette, Olga, John, and Rose, and four siblings-in-law who were closer to siblings than in-laws: Catherine, Marie, Peggy, and Joey. So, there’s quite a happy reunion going on today.

Dorothy was born and raised in Newark, NJ, attending St. Antonius Grammar School and St. Vincent Academy High School. After graduating high school, she worked at Prudential Insurance Company in the underwriting division and thereafter worked at Howard Savings and Loan in the payroll division. Her lifelong occupation was homemaker having started in this occupation when she married John “Jack” T. Lintott on September 21, 1957. Theirs was a joyful marriage that brought a small village into existence: five children Kathy (Rob), Monica, John (Greta), Matt, and Sheila (Eric), nine grandchildren: Nick, Lauren, Robert, Audrey (Fred), Sean (Melissa), Mary, Victoria, Sonja, and Jack, and a great granddaughter due in a little over two months. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Grace, cousin Mae, and loving friends Joan and Peggy, all of whom she considered sisters.

Dorothy and Jack lived in Hamilton Square for 27 years before making a lifelong dream come true by building a home in Sea Girt, just four blocks from the beach they loved so much. She enjoyed approximately 8,037 happy and sandy days on Beacon Blvd before moving to Brick where she hosted holidays, gathered with friends, and celebrated everything worth celebrating for the last 17 years.

Dorothy was a Roman Catholic and her faith was central in her life. Always an active member of local churches, she attended church at Our Lady of Sorrows in Hamilton where her children also attended school, St. Mark’s in Sea Girt where she was a member of the Social Concerns Committee and the Altar Rosary Society, delivered Meals on Wheels, and attended daily mass for years, and Episcopal Church in Brick.

Dorothy had Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (Type 1) for 61 years and although the disease did its very best to put a damper on her party, it never succeeded. She cherished the time she spent in Florida, her home away from home, and her love of travel took her to Italy, Germany, and Russia as well as anywhere her children lived or anywhere she was invited to a party. An avid reader to her very last day and always the life of the party, Dorothy was quick to laugh, ready to love, and beautiful in every way. Our hearts are full as we remember a life well lived and say an earthly farewell to our Junebug, a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, wife, and friend well loved.

A viewing will be held at O’Brien’s Funeral Home 2028 Highway 35, Wall, NJ 07719 from 5:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, June 16. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church, 215 Crescent Parkway, Sea Girt, NJ 08750 on Friday, June 17 at 9:30 am with a burial to follow at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, 1100 W. Chicago Blvd, Sea Girt, NJ 08750.
