Obituary for Edward David Conner

Edward D. Conner, 84, of Asbury Park passed away Friday, June 4, 2021 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune

Edward was born and raised in Neptune City, he graduated from Asbury Park High School and went on to serve our country in the US Navy. Following his Naval service, he began his career as an Asbury Park Fireman where he proudly served for 22 years before retiring due to an accident incurred while in the line of duty.

Ed was an avid NY Giants and Yankees fan, traveling to both home and away games for many seasons. He was very active in fundraising in the Shore area. He participated in the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon and had presented a check to Jerry Lewis on television. He was an organizer of the Canoe Races for charity that took place on Deal Lake in Asbury Park. He had been a volunteer fireman and Little League Coach for Neptune City. He was also a coach in the Jersey Shore Baseball League for the Manasquan Clowns and the Belmar Merchants.

He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Marthe Conner, his beloved sister Mary Swannack and his 4 brothers Eugene, Norman, Allen and Charles Conner. He is survived by his nieces and nephews of the Swannack and Conner families.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Monday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm followed by a Funeral Service on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 10:00am at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, NJ, 07719. Burial will be in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall Twp.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Asbury Park Firefighters Local # 384 Charity Organization, 800 Main St., Asbury Park, NJ 07712 (Envelopes will be provided at the Funeral Home during the visitation.
