Obituary for Edwina Yazdan

Edwina (nee White) Yazdan, age 78, ‘Winnie’ to all who knew and loved her, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.

Winnie was born in New Brunswick to the late Edward and Alice (nee Cody) White. She lived in Wall Township where she raised her family for many years and recently moved to Shrewsbury.

Winnie had a diverse career and a life full of many adventures. After graduating from Cornell University, she began her career as a nurse at the New York Foundling Hospital. On her days off she was a stewardess, along with her twin sister Alice, for American Airlines - double trouble in the friendly skies!  It was around this time she met her husband of many years, Dr. David Yazdan and went on to have two children, David, Jr. and Ariane.

When David and Winnie parted ways, she began her next, and most successful, chapter as a realtor with Diane Turton, Realtors in Spring Lake.

Perhaps the role she cherished most was that of grandma. She loved nothing more than spoiling her grandchildren (Lily and Benji) rotten, while also being sure to dole out some tough love. The kids will miss her dearly.

Winnie was a force to be reckoned with -- smart as a whip, hilariously funny and the life of the party. Most importantly, she was always full of love and greeted everyone with a smile.

Surviving are her devoted children; daughter Ariane Yazdan of Tinton Falls, her son David Yazdan of Maplewood, her beloved grandchildren Lily and Benjamin Yazdan, and her sisters Alice Steinman and Joan Deiner.

In keeping with her wishes, the family will be planning a small get-together in the near future.  She wanted a celebration, not a memorial.  In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to CASA of Ocean County at www.CASAofOceanCounty.org, a charity that works with foster children in our community.
