Obituary for Eileen B. McCarthy (McCarthy)

Eileen B. McCarthy, born February 28, 1954 died January 27th at the age of 66 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Eileen graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology and became a renowned patternmaker in the New York City Garment District for over 40 years, most recently at Alfred Dunner for the last 20 years.
Eileen was a truly gifted person who loved to sew, do needlepoint and embroidery, and especially knit. She also loved to bake and share the fruits of her labor.
Eileen was a vibrant ball of energy, known for walking everywhere, very briskly. She was a proud conservative who was not afraid to voice her opinion or stand up for her beliefs and friends. Eileen was one of the most loving and compassionate people you could ever meet, always striving to help or take care of her family and friends, and even those she may not have known. Her passing leaves a huge hole in the lives of those who knew and loved her. But we must realize we are blessed for having known this extraordinary woman who made our world a much better place and gave us inspiration and memories that we will all cherish forever.
Eileen left her beloved New York City in 2020 and returned to her childhood home to care for family and become a Reformed Benny.
Eileen was predeceased by her parents, Eugene T and Louise I McCarthy, and her oldest brother Eugene McCarthy. She is survived by her sisters, Patricia M Kirby of Virginia and Mary McCarthy of Spring Lake, her brother Christopher G McCarthy of Spring Lake, her sister-in-law Debbie McCarthy of Rahway, Her nephew Kevin McCarthy and wife Dominique of Pennsylvania, and her very cherished friends Dawn May and Richie Brown of New York. Eileen also leaves behind all her colleagues and a multitude of friends made over her lifetime.
Eileen chose not to have any services and will be cremated. Our family would ask that in lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to one of her favorite charities, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Spring Lake First Aid Squad, P. O. Box 94 Spring Lake, NJ 07762. O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall in charge of arrangements www.obrienfuneralhome.com. Cards or condolences may be sent to Christopher McCarthy at P.O.
