Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Walker (Curran)

Elizabeth Curran Walker (Betty), 86, of Berkeley Heights, NJ, died Wednesday July 15, 2020 at CareOne in Wall, NJ.

Betty was born in New York, NY, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Kennedy) Curran. She was raised in Springfield and had been a resident of Berkeley Heights for many years. She graduated from The College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a BA in English and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Library Science from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. She worked as a Research and Reference Librarian for Schering Plough, Merck, Ortho, and Johnson & Johnson. Betty was an avid birder and enjoyed spending time at Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. Betty is survived by her husband, Frank, her son David and his wife Meghan, and her beloved grandchildren Grace and Jack, all of Oceanport, NJ. She was predeceased by her siblings, Thomas Curran Jr. and Sister Rosalie Curran, Sister of Charity.

Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Thursday July 23, 2020, from 9-10:30 AM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, St. Elizabeth Church, 424 Lincoln Ave., Avon, NJ at 11 AM on Thursday, followed by burial at St. Anne Cemetery, Wall.
