Obituary for Elsa Morena Zelaya

Loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend Elsa Morena Zelaya’s zest for life will be remembered with love long after her passing.

Elsa passed away peacefully on November 1, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loved ones who will strive to honor her memory by living their lives to the fullest.

Born in San Salvador, El Salvador in Central America, she lived most of her life in Queens, NY in the town of Little Neck working and raising her family.

Elsa was a huge believer in her faith of catholicism. She loved working with children for many years alongside Ines Rodriguez who she always said was her spirit guide. In her spare time she enjoyed the simple pleasures of spending quality time with family and friends, shopping, cooking and working alongside her husband Jose helping him with his business. Reading the gospel was one of her passions as well as serving the Lord as she was a strong woman of faith.

She is predeceased by her parents Ismael Martinez Villegas and Maria Ines Garay, her brothers Melito, Ricardo and her sister Vilma. She is survived by her husband Jose, her children Wendy, Sharone, Jennifer and Jose her grandchildren Justin, Lane, Alicia, Nicole, Emilia and Andrea and her siblings Blanca, Maria and Maribel.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 9:00am until 12:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd. Wall Township, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30pm at the Church of St. Rose, 603 7th Ave., Belmar, NJ. Interment will be in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall Twp.
