Gene R. Salsman, Jr., age 64 of Brick passed away on May 17, 2023 at Community Medical Center, Toms River, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Fort Monmouth and grew up in Point Pleasant Beach before settling down in Brick with his wife Gail. Not only did they have a child and adopt a couple of cats, but many animals also adopted them, including an injured dove and a wild rabbit.

Gene worked for Bay Head Landscaping for many years. Gene lived a virtuous life doing anything he could for everyone else. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed happy hour with his friends after. He always let his granddaughter lead the way for entertainment whether it be making Grandpa go in the pool or roughhousing in the living room every evening.

Gene will be deeply missed by a wide circle of friends and family including his loving daughter Sarah Salsman and future son-in-law Brendan Crawford, his cherished granddaughter Lily Crawford, brother Michael Salsman (Lynn), sister Gerri Sears (Chester), and many wonderful nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He is predeceased by his parents Eugene and Doris Salsman and the love of his life Gail Salsman.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial gathering on Friday, May 26, 2023 from 4-7pm at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick, NJ 08724. Committal is private.
