Obituary for Frances Eleanor "Mickey" Coan (Howe)

Frances E. Coan, affectionately known as “Mickey” to all who knew and loved her, entered into Eternal Life, Friday, July 14, 2023 at Spartanburg Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC. 

Mickey was born on June 28th, 1930 in Queens, NY. She lived in Spring Lake for many years, where she raised her loving family before moving to Brielle and then to South Carolina in 2011. 

She was a devout Catholic and a long time member of St. Catharine's Parish, Spring Lake. She truly enjoyed volunteering at St. John's Soup Kitchen in Newark, NJ with her dear friends. Mickey will forever be remembered for her love of family and friends, kind heart and always looking at life with the glass half full. She cherished her Irish heritage and loved a good party. Her favorite motto “Cheers, I've never had a bad one!” 

She is predeceased by her beloved husband John T. Coan in 1995 and her siblings William J. Howe, Edward C. Howe, Evelyn Veronesi, and Margaret Keltos. Surviving are her devoted children, Thomas J. Coan & Jane DeNoble of Bradley Beach, Tracy Roche and James Sr. of Daniel Island, SC, Kerry Roche of Cowpens, SC and John M. Roche Sr. of Punta Gorda, FL. In addition to many nieces and nephews.

Mickey is also survived by her treasured grandchildren, Amber, Taylor, James Jr., Quinn, Lauren, Kelly, Casey, Jack, Colleen, Serge, Shamila and Nahid and her precious great grandchildren, Nolan, Alys and Ireland.

Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall Twp. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday July, 22, 2023 at 9:00am in St. Catharine's Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake. Burial will be in St. Catharine's Cemetery, Sea Girt. 

In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation in memory of Mickey to St. John's Soup Kitchen, PO Box 200147, Newark NJ 07102. Donation envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
