Obituary for Francis "Frank " Logan

Francis “Frankie” Logan, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Born March 10, 1939 in the coal mining village of Bothwellhaugh, Scotland, affectionately called “the Palis”. He spent 11 years as a coal miner before emigrating to Kearny, New Jersey in 1964, where he met the love of his life, Anne Marie (Oliver) and soon were married in 1967. He was inducted into the U.S. Army October 1964, stationed first in Fort Dix, NJ then in Stuttgart, Germany. Frank resided in Irvington for many years before moving to Neptune in 1979.

He loved three things: his faith, his family, and his football, especially Glasgow Celtic.

He was a daily communicant of Holy Innocents Roman Catholic Church, he attended weekly adoration and first Fridays. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Society, Holy Name Society, Past Co-President of Holy Innocents School PTA, HIS Soccer coach, Respect Life Committee, Eire-Nua, and Champions for Life Recipient. He was a member of the Glasgow Celtic Supporters Club, the Irish American Club, the Scots American Club, all in Kearny, NJ where he made lifelong friendships. He was a Teamster with Local 863 for 25 years.

He was a former soccer player, playing for the US Army Soccer Team for two years. He loved to coach soccer, whether as coach or just on the sidelines and was honored to be coach of Holy Innocents Soccer team where he enjoyed every minute.

He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Bridget Logan and infant sister, Brigid. Surviving are his beloved wife of 53 years, Anne Marie (Oliver) Logan; his sons, Thomas James and Kevin Francis Logan of Neptune; his daughters, Mary Frances Logan of Spring Lake Heights and Brigid Anne Logan of Wall; his grandson, Ryan Padraic Logan, Jersey City; his sister-in-law, Helen Aeilts and her husband, Ernest of Normal, IL; Joann Oliver, Great Meadows, NJ.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, March, 21, 2021 from 1-4 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Innocents Roman Catholic Church, Neptune followed by the interment at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown.

**Due to Covid 19 restrictions there are capacity limitations and face masks and social distancing are mandatory.
