Obituary for Francis George "Skip" O'Halloran

Francis “Skip” O’Halloran, 74 of Wall Twp passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune with his loving family at his side.

Born in Long Branch, he was raised in Monmouth Beach before moving to Wall Twp. 47 years ago. He was a graduate of Red Bank Catholic High School and attended Monmouth College.

After graduating high school he served four years in the US Navy during the Vietnam War as an aviation electrician. Skip reenlisted in the US Navy reserves in 1982 becoming a Flight Engineer on a P-3 Orion anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircraft. This was his passion for 16 years taking him all over the world making some of his best friends along the way.

Following his Naval service, he joined IBEW Local # 400, Wall Township in 1971 and served until his retirement in 2005. Skip was an instructor for the apprentices from 1985 until 2013, a job he loved and his students loved him.

He was a Communicant of St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake and was a member of Long Branch Ice Boat and Yacht Club. He loved being on the water whether it was on his boat or sailing on his ice boat.

Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Margaret (nee Ryan) O’Halloran, he is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years Monica (nee Vadas) O’Halloran, his beloved son Sean O’Halloran and wife Kristin of Wall Twp., and the 3 loves of his life, his grandchildren Connor, Makayla, and Mady O’Halloran. Also surviving are his 7 siblings, brothers Thomas and Keiran O’Halloran, Dennis O’Halloran and wife Chris, Brian O’Halloran and wife Patty, 3 sisters Mary and husband Jim Liotto, Maureen and husband Ernie Schanck, and Margaret and husband Steve O’Horo and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 10:00am in St. Catharine’s Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake. Interment will follow in St. Catharine’s Cemetery. The family asks that no flowers be sent, but rather make a donation to the charity of your choice in Skip’s name.
