Obituary for Frank Sillito

Francis (Frankie) Joseph Sillito, Jr., 96, of Asbury Park, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2021. Frank was born in Newark, NJ on October 12, 1924, to Frank and Helen Sillito. He attended St. Joseph’s University where he played basketball. Frank earned a Purple Heart during World War II for his service to the country. Upon returning from overseas he worked for Kemper Insurance for many years.

After early retirement, he moved to Asbury Park. He enjoyed living on the beach and taking day trips to Atlantic City and Monmouth Race Track. Frank never let life get him down and lived by the motto of living every day like it was his last. In his later years, he often talked about living by the “Golden Rule.”

Beloved father and grandfather, he leaves behind sons, Christopher Sillito and his partner, Toni Peluso; James Sillito and his wife, Jennifer; daughter, Lori McCarthy and her husband John; and grandchildren, Lauren Sillito, Morgan Thomas, Jack, and Kyle McCarthy. Cherished brother to Catherine Turano and Thomas Sillito, who pre-deceased him. Favorite Uncle to his niece and nephews, Tommy, Bobby, Billy, and John Turano, who enjoyed spending time with him. Frank always had a positive attitude and encouraging words for everyone he met and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021, from 1-3 pm with Military Honors being rendered at 3:00 pm at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall, NJ 07719. Cremation was private.
