Obituary for Gary F. Tackas
Gary F. Tackas, 83, of Brick, formerly of Brielle, NJ died, Sunday, March 7, 2021, at Jersey Shore Univ. Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Newark, NJ, Gary lived in Brielle and Wall before moving to Brick in 2004. Gary worked in finance for Blue Cross/Blue Shield before becoming a realtor for Weichert Realty, Pt. Pleasant until his retirement. He was a long time parishioner of St. Denis Church in Manasquan before moving to St. Dominic’s Church in Brick. Gary loved his family and all the friends he made on his life’s journey. His love of life was the only thing that could dwarf his height and larger than life personality. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed the theater.
Gary was predeceased by his parents, Catherine and Frank Tackas and his beloved wife Grace Tackas. Surviving are his children, Curry Bucu and her husband Allan, Grace Paulhus and her husband Michel, Catherine Bolger and her husband Michael, Lisa Mikovits and her husband Raymond, Anne McKibbin and her husband William, John Bruther and his wife Piper, Anne Wingertzahn and her husband Michael, Christopher Bruther and his wife Tracey, Brendan Bruther and his wife Stephanie and Mary Chickoree and her husband Gabriel. He was the proud grandfather to 31 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, March 12, 2021 from 4-7 pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, March 13, 2021, 10 am at St. Denis Church, 90 Union Ave., Manasquan, NJ. Burial will follow in St. Catharine Cemetery, Wall.
