Obituary for Giacomo Ranieri

It’s with sadness that I convey to friends and family that Uncle Jack died peacefully at the age of 82 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, on 05/15/23. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Uncle Jack moved to Manasquan over 20 years ago. He served honorably in the US Marine Corps. He worked as a laborer for various companies throughout his career including Worthington Pump, Newark, NJ. He was a parishioner of St. Denis Church, Manasquan. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Laura Ranieri, his sisters, Nina (Ranieri) Harvey in February of 2001, Angelina Ranieri in March of 2019, Paula “Mellie” Ranieri in May of 2019. Surviving are his nieces and nephew, Laura Jaroszewski and her husband Bill, Mary Leigh Harvey and Robert Harvey and his wife Diane. He adored his grandnieces, Julia Harvey and Emily Harvey.

Uncle Jack will be missed by all who knew him.  He enjoyed talking to neighbors, family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and boating in the Manasquan River.  He had a keen interest in the news of the day and was willing to express an opinion, on any subject, at any time.  While a physically imposing man at 6’4”, his bark was always worse than his bite.

Visitation will be Friday, May 19, 2023, from 9am to 9:30am at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 19, 2020, 10 am at St. Denis Church, 90 Union Ave., Manasquan, NJ, burial will follow in St. Catharine Cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 1111 Stewart Ave. Bethpage, NY 11714.
