Obituary for Grace Wadowski (Ferrigno)

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our most beautiful and amazing mother, Grace (Ferrigno) Wadowski on Saturday, May 14, 2022.  Two weeks short of her 94th birthday, the good Lord called her home to be with her late husband, Stanley, whom she had been married to for 54 years until his passing in 2003. Grace will also be reunited with her most incredible, loving and special parents, Vincenzo and Maria Angela (Crispino) Ferrigno, her siblings and their spouses, brothers Dominic and Josephine (surviving - Impaluso) Ferrigno, John and Mary Ann (Pignone) Ferrigno, Anthony and Dorothy (Carvell) Ferrigno, Vincent Ferrigno Jr. and Ann Burns, sisters Josephine (Ferrigno) Mangano and Dolores (Ferrigno) Ouellette.

Surviving children and their spouses include Stanley Jr. and Nina (Ortega) Wadowski, Ronald and Dawn (Nichols) Wadowski, and Dawn (Wadowski) Ellison. Grandchildren include Jacob and Benjamin Wadowski, William and Brianna Ellison.

Grace also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Her deep heartfelt love touched everyone who crossed her path. She was passionate about loving and helping others. Always thinking of everyone else, her love had no boundaries. She touched countless lives, young and old. Grace's name fits her, as grace means undeserved favor and kindness. She was always known to live that way... offering love to everyone she met.

Grace was born on May 31, 1928 in Willimantic, Connecticut. She met the man of her dreams 17 years later at the Royal Typewriter Company in Hartford, CT, where they were both employed. She married Stanley at the age of 20 in 1948 and honeymooned in Niagara Falls.

Grace was blessed with three children, Stanley Jr., Ron and Dawn. In 1964, Grace and Stan bought their first home in Bloomfield, CT. One year later, in 1965, Grace raised her children in that little house, which was full of her selfless love. Her three children graduated from the same high school and Grace and Stanley continued to live there for 24 years.

Throughout their time in Bloomfield, countless family and friend gatherings took place in their love-filled home and backyard. Her children's school years and sports activities gave her much excitement, as well as memories of fun-filled family vacations. Grace repeatedly claimed, “Those were the best years of my life!”

The start of their retirement, in 1988 brought them to southern California for 10 years, enjoying the sun, peaceful living and frequent trips to Las Vegas. The next two retirement homes brought Grace and Stan back to the east coast. They lived in Connecticut for two years then finally settled in at the Jersey Shore. Just one hour away, they found lots of fun and joy in Atlantic City’s boardwalk. There was no greater joy than spending time with their grandchildren, William, Brianna and their daughter Dawn.

Grace peacefully passed on May 14, 2022, and was called home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Grace will be held at Saint Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Road, South Windsor, CT. Monday, May 23rd at 11:00am. Grace will be interred beside her dearest husband, Stanley Sr. at New Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor, CT, following the Mass.

May you Rest in Peace, our "Amazing Grace"
