Helen C. Sumer, 91 of Wall, NJ formerly of Spring Lake, NJ died Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Linden, NJ, Helen lived in Spring Lake for over 46 years, where she was a parishioner at St. Catharine’s Church.   She volunteered for many organizations over the years.  Helen was a longtime member of the Spring Lake Golf Club and the 9 holers and 18 holers until her death. She spent winters in Florida. Helen was the ultimate hostess and entertainer, throwing many fun gatherings for family and friends.

She loved her music and to sing and dance.  She always welcomed everyone with her happy smile and open arms.  In short, Helen lived a life full of optimism, grace and acceptance.  She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband Richard Sumer in 2001 and her siblings. Surviving are her children, Greg Sumer, Cynthia Basile and her husband Charles, Patricia Abrahamson and her husband Kermit, Christina Sumer, her former daughter-in-law, Linda Marant and 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren whom she cherished dearly.

Visitation will be Monday, March 13, 2023 from 4-7pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, March 14, 2023, 10:30 am at St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake. Burial will follow in St. Catharine Cemetery, Wall.
