Obituary for James Russotto, Jr.

James Russotto Jr, age 65, formerly of Bayonne, NJ and longtime resident of Bradley Beach, passed away peacefully at Jersey Shore University Medical Center on August 11, 2022, with his beloved wife, Linda Guerra Russotto, at his side. He was an amazing father to his son, James III, and daughter, Allison.

He was the son of the late James and Irene Russotto of Cottage Street, Bayonne. He is also survived by sister, Jeanette Verrill, and her husband, Don, of Tampa and brother, Alan, and his wife, Helen, of Bayonne and Sister-in-Law, Diane Fonti, and her husband, Vincent. Jimmy leaves behind nieces, Megan Squitieri and Dana Fonti Davis and nephews Thomas Murphy, Nicholas Murphy, Gabriel Russotto, Vincent Fonti III and Matthew Fonti, along with many great nieces and nephews.

Jimmy recently retired from the Sandy Hook Pilots after 29 years of service to spend more time doing what he loved. Jim was an avid boater and fisherman spending many hours aboard his beloved “Shifty.” When he wasn’t aboard the Shifty, you could find him at the local watering holes, Kelly’s Tavern or the old Norwood Inn where he was affectionately known as “Pinball”. He loved the company of his friends and fishing buddies, sharing stories about the “ones that got away”. Jim proudly served as lieutenant commander of the Jr Sea Knights of America and was president of Narrows Marina from 1980 – 2000. Jimmy was a former member of the Atlas Yacht Club and Shark River Beach and Yacht Club where he spent many happy hours surrounded by family and friends. He also enjoyed his time as a member of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelaghs.

Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Jimmy, left us way too soon and will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know him.

May James always have fair winds and following seas.
