Obituary for James Evans Franklin Carter

James Evans Franklin Carter, 71 of Easton, PA and formerly of Kingwood and Conroe, TX passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

James was born in Richmond, Indiana and grew up on his family’s farm, which cultivated his love for animals and the earth. He graduated from the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University in 1973. He had a lengthy career at banking and real estate institutions, most recently as a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser at JP Morgan Chase Wealth Management.

James was an outstanding athlete during his elementary and high school years, and continued to remain active thoughout his entire life. He enjoyed playing basketball, golf, tennis, running, weight lifting, and was an accomplished racquetball player. He was also often seen in the early morning hours jogging along the golf course and throughout the neighborhood, even at age 70. He instilled in all of his children the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle thoughout their lives. As a father, he was involved in all of his children’s various sports teams, including coaching them both on and off the soccer field, and basketball and racquetball courts.

James was loved and admired by all who had met him, whether through friendships, family ties, or in his professional career. His exemplary work ethics and experience led him to obtain promotions quickly and often. His courage, strength, distinguished character, and loving and caring personality made him an incredible and amazing man. He will truly be missed and will stay in our hearts forever and always.

James was predeceased by his parents James E. and Anna C. Hodgin Carter, he is survived by his beloved wife Janet Katherine Carter of 17 years, his sister Marcia Reineking, his children Jennifer Funk, Josh Carter, Casie Miller, Bryan Carter, Jade Carter, Jayme Buchanan Carter, Mikala Buchanan Carter, and Jonathon Kozak, along with 18 grand children, including the youngest Ariana and Ashlyn Carter.

Visitation is Friday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Twp, NJ. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 9:00am at St. Catharine’s Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake, NJ.
