Obituary for James Arthur O'Mealia

On Tuesday, March 28 2023, James “Jim” O’Mealia passed on to the spirit world after a short but difficult battle with cancer. In the end, he was surrounded by those he loved and those who loved him. Jim was born in Jersey City and settled in Brick, New Jersey.  He was a proud and dedicated truck driver for 45 years.

There are very few people that come into our lives who make you smile every time you see them or hear their name; Jim was one of those people. He was a quick-witted and funny man who taught his family the importance of love and hard work. His life was love and labour and his love for his family true. He always did his best for all of us. We will remember his words and hold him deep within our hearts. Although we are saddened by his absence, we have an abundance of memories and stories that will keep us laughing forever.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Aline O’Mealia; his sisters, Judy, EmmyLou, and Beets. Also, by his two stepsons, Darrin and Robert. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Evelyn; his daughters, JeanAnn and Eileen; his sons-in-law Salvatore and Zoran; and his daughter-in-law, Jessie. His grandchildren, Michael, Sheri-Anne, SalliJean, Darrin, Lia, James, Jacob, and Samantha. His great-grandchildren, Hazel, Xander, and Ethan. His sister, Patty and brother-in-law, Ron; and his many nieces and nephews.

Cremation was private and under the direction of O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick.

As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made, in Jim’s name, to the American Diabetes Association.
