Obituary for Janice Gladys Suss

Janice Gladys Suss, age 82, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. She was born in Brooklyn New York, but never became a Brooklyn Dodger fan. They had gone to L.A. by then, So Janice moved with her parents, and resided in Baldwin Long Island, NY before moving to Wall Township NJ for 26 years. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Customer Support/Training Supervisor for ConEdison for almost 40 years. Working in all five New York City Boroughs.

She was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Gladys Suss, her brother Frank Suss and sister Elinor M. Peters. Surviving are her nephews, Scott Peters, Kirk Peters, Brad Peters, Bobby Suss, Frank Suss, Richard Suss, Kenneth Suss, her niece, Linda Suss (Hoffer), and Linda’s children, Dan Hoffer, Thomas Hoffer, and Richard’s children Dr. Nicolas Suss, C.J. and his beautiful daughter Julia.  And last but not least Aunt Janice’s wonderful grandnephews, Luke and Cooper Haley. (Scott’s Daughter’s Children).

Janice enjoyed bowling in which her teams had taken first place quite a few times. Janice was an awesome bowler who loved her teammates and the leagues she was in. Janice was also, a member of the Manasquan Elks and would never give up the secret password so that her family could get in for a few cocktails. She even went to the Elks Club in Maine, which she really enjoyed because for some reason when she told them she was from Jersey, they treated her wonderfully. I guess they thought Tony Soprano was going to come through the door.

She loved going to Maine with her sister and liked the Haddock, not the Lobster. Go figure? And her truly best past time was going to Atlantic City each week with her extended family! These were her close Atlantic City friends who became like family. They all loved and enjoyed each other always! Holidays, Birthdays, BBQ’s. She loved it! Janice along with her sister Elinor would play the “penny slots” and always come back with either some “loot”, or nothing. They both had this rule of never spending more then they brought and when they were done, and Lady Luck wasn’t with them, they had black Russians to celebrate the day! And last but not least, was Janice’s zeal for Potato Salad made from scratch by one of her Atlantic City family friends. This gentleman also made a mean black Russian that even her sister Elinor, loved to drink! Janice loved Elvis records in her younger days and who could blame her! And lastly, it was reported by sources close to Janice that Kirk Peters was her favorite nephew. This can’t be confirmed nor denied. In conclusion, Janice was extremely thankful and grateful to all of those who helped her through her trials and tribulations. Her awesome neighbors, her awesome friends, and her awesome Care Giver who lived with Janice and saw her

through to the end. God Bless all of you for what you did. Your help, prayers, texts, phone calls, visits to see her, all helped give her that little bit of Quality of Life that she so, wanted!  It’s all Good!

Visiting will be on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 1-3 PM at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall.
