Jean Frances Kurtz,91, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., formerly of Spring Lake Heights, N.J. and Yonkers, N.Y. passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019. Jean was born to James and Caroline (Doerrler) Carroll on March 27, 1928 in Jersey City, N.J. She was married to her loving husband of 51 years Fred Kurtz, until his passing in August, 2004. Jean proudly worked as a nursing assistant at St John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers for almost 25 years before retiring to Spring Lake Heights. She was happiest when she was spending time with her family and friends, traveling, enjoying the ocean and boardwalk, and visiting the surrounding Shore towns. She was a woman of great faith and a devoted parishioner of St. Margaret’s Church in Spring Lake.

Jean is survived by her beloved daughters, Gloria M. Kurtz of Yonkers, NY and Jeanine A. Kurtz of White Plains, NY, her devoted sister-in-law, Adrienne Carroll, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her sisters Mary Manthey and Geraldine Byrne, and her brothers, James Carroll and Charles Carroll.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, N.J. on Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 2-6 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Margaret’s Church, Spring Lake, on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at 10:30 AM with burial to follow at St. Anne Cemetery, Wall Township, NJ.
