Obituary for Joan Carmody

Joan Carmody, born March 24, 1948, daughter of the late J. Victor and Joan Carton, passed away at home on March 4th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness.  Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, John F. Carmody; her three children: John V. Carmody and his wife, Alice, of Evergreen, CO; Kerry Jerrier and her husband, Jeff, of Franklin, MA, and daughter Michelle Baughman and her husband, Matt, of Denver, CO.  Joan ("Joanie Pie") was the proud grandmother ("Tatee") to: Kate, Ellie, Grace and Jack Jerrier; Maggie, Audrey and Gillian Baughman; and Declan and Finnegan Carmody.  Joan is survived by her siblings: Malcolm Carton, Gail Carton, Kerry McGreevy and Michael Carton, as well as many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Joan was raised in Neptune City.  She attended St. Rose High School, Belmar, Vernon Court College in Newport, RI and earned a degree from Parks College in Colorado.  Joan raised her children in Denver, returning to the Shore in 2019.  She was a devoted mother and a hands-on grandmother.  Her greatest joy was being with her family. Her wit was unparalleled, as was her compassion for others.
