Obituary for Joan H Cecere (Hahn)

It is with great sadness that we announce that Joan H. Cecere, 94, of Spring Lake Heights passed away in the early morning hours of January 26, 2024, after a period of declining health.

Joan was born in Orange, New Jersey on March 29, 1929 to the late Madeline (Brown) Hahn and George Hahn. She graduated from Marylawn of the Oranges in 1946. Joan briefly worked as a bank teller at the National Newark Bank in Essex before marrying the love of her life, Daniel Cecere, in November of 1950.

Joan had a love for the finer things in life, which she shared with her family and especially her dogs, who she always referred to as her babies.  She was a quick wit, and a fighter to the end.  She loved to dine out and always enjoyed a good meal, especially seafood.  She was a lover of the ocean and spent the latter part of her life living at the Jersey Shore.

She is pre-deceased by her husband, Daniel Cecere in 1990, her son, Daniel Cecere Jr. in 2014, her brother, William Hahn in 2017, and her grandson, George Daniel Dapper in 2020.

Members of her family, who will miss her dearly, include her two sons, William Cecere and Peter Cecere; and her two daughters, Joanne Dapper and Michelle Anderson and Michelle’s husband, Terry Anderson; Joan’s brother, George Hahn: and her 9 grandchildren.

Grandchildren include William Cecere’s two children: Danielle Diianni and Shane Cecere; Daniel Cecere’s son: Matthew Dylan Oryniak; Joanne Dapper’s daughter: CarliJoy Dapper; Michelle Anderson’s son: Frank D’Alessandro; Peter Cecere’s four children: Peter Cecere, Joseph Cecere, Angela Cecere and JennaLynn Cecere.

To honor Joan’s wishes, services will be held privately.
