Joan Ann Lager, 89 aka Gommie/Joan Ann the Librarian, fierce advocate of timely book returns, passed away on May 15, 2020.
Joan died of complications from Covid-19 following surgery, and would have wanted you to wear your damn mask. Born to Dudley (Cookie) Cook and Helen Clark Cook, she had three brothers: Ike, Richard, and Stanley (Jinx) Cook. She married A. Ernest Lager and had 5 children: Kathleen, Robert, Patricia (La Sala), Christopher, and Stacy (Jasanovsky). Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband in 1977 and her son Christopher in 2001, both from cancer.
She is survived by her four children and her many grand and great-grandchildren, each one believing that they were her favorite.
Joan was a terrific mother to us, and nurtured and accepted our friends as if they were her own. She gifted us with her humor, and instilled a love for reading, music and animals in us from an early age. Beautiful all around, we will miss her.
No service, per her request and Covid-19, obviously, since then we'd all be dead.
Remember her well; we will.
