Obituary for Joan A. Meakem (Reed)
Joan A. (Reed) Meakem, 86, formerly of Whiting passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the Willow Springs Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Brick. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Mrs. Meakem was predeceased by her husband, David E. Meakem, Sr. on October 7, 2002; and by her sister, Ethel Stryker. Surviving are her sons, David E. Meakem, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Brielle and Eric Meakem and his wife, Karen of Toms River; daughter, Ann Elizabeth DiGioia of Barnegat; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 4-7pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A prayer service will be conducted Thursday evening at 6pm. The family will gather in the funeral home at 10am on Friday, November 1, 2019 and depart for the burial at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan. Donations may be made in her name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Foundation.
