Keane
John F. Keane, age 82, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, February 5, 2022 in the arms of his loving wife, Patricia, at their home in Delray Beach, FL.
He is predeceased by his beloved first wife, Lucia Marchesi Keane in 2017.
A certified public account by profession, he accepted a consulting assignment for the Archdiocese of New York where his calling to serve others began. He was appointed as president of Flower Fifth Avenue (renamed Terence Cardinal Cook Health Care Center) and St. Clare’s Hospital and Health care Center. He restructured both institutions and they thrived under John’s administration. John went on to develop many programs to enrich the lives of those who are so often undervalued.
In 1993, the time had come for John to move on. John and his wife moved to the Jersey Shore from Armonk, NY to pursue their dream of owning and operating their own care community. The Keane's relocated to Sea Girt and purchased Sunnyside Manor. A true visionary, John transformed the building to better serve the residents of Sunnyside and many years later expanded to provide even more services to the community. John’s attitude towards the care of others through dignity and respect was infectious. So much so, his children joined him over 25 years ago, sharing his passion for providing care. John was so very proud of Sunnyside, the care that the wonderful staff provided to its residents, and considered Sunnyside an extension of his own family. He will be dearly missed by so many, however his passion for caring for those with struggles and his work will carry on.
John was tireless in his conviction that all persons be provided care, comfort, shelter and dignity; qualities that are so often overlooked by other caregivers. He never gave up, he always believed.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Lucia Marchesi Keane and with her raised 3 children, John, Kathleen, and MaryEllen. Together they created a loving family for the 56 years of marriage and beyond.
He loved his dogs from Sudz to Cosmo.
John was predeceased by his beloved father Charles and mother Florence (Crull) and brother Charles, and William and his sister Margaret.
He is survived by his cherished wife Patricia who was devoted to him and by his beloved children John and his wife, Tibby, Kathleen and her husband, John, MaryEllen and her husband, John; stepson Michael Young and his wife, Amelia; and his brother Joseph and brothers-in-law John and Vincent Marchesi and numerous nieces and nephews.
