John B. McAvenue, age 84, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick.  Born and raised in Harrison, NJ, John resided in Colonia for 54 years before moving to Sea Girt in 2020.

Mr. McAvenue was a graduate of Seton Hall University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree along with two Master’s Degrees. John was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1959-1963 earning the rank of Captain. He went on to have a career in Sales which allowed him to travel across the country. 

He enjoyed traveling, golf, and spending time with his family & friends.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 61 years, Jeanie (Mount) McAvenue; his loving daughters, Linda Arzano and her husband, Robert, Tracey Brandstatter and her husband, Bill and Maureen McAvenue; his cherished grandchildren, Alexa and RJ Arzano, William and Sayre Brandstatter, Victoria and Christina Pereira.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2022 from 3-7 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, June 20th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s RC Church, Sea Girt followed by the entombment at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Autism Speaks.
