John Colangelo Jr., 92 of Neptune passed away on April 1, 2022. John was born in Asbury Park and had resided there and in Neptune Twp. all of his life.

John’s family and the United States Marine Corps were the two things most important to him throughout his life. He was a decorated Marine Corps veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, receiving the Purple Heart medal. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1967 after over 20 years of service to his country. Following his distinguished military career, he continued his professional life with Frequency Electronics, he served as a Special Police officer for the town of Belmar, a Neptune Police Reservist and also served as a Fire Police officer for the Shark River Hills Fire Company.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Rose (nee Mazza) Colangelo, his son Kenneth Colangelo and brother Daniel Colangelo.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 70 years, Catherine (nee Delonardo) Colangelo, his devoted children Roseann Aker and husband William of Wall Twp., John Colangelo III and wife Patty of Wall Township, his grandchildren John Colangelo IV, William Aker, Christopher Colangelo, Melissa Locasio, Michael Colangelo, and Alexis Colangelo, his brother Richard Colangelo of Ocean Twp. and 7 great grand-children.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 6, 2002 from 10:00am until the time of Funeral Service at 12:00 noon at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall Twp. Interment with USMC Military Honors will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall Twp.
