John Michael Fastenau, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 22, 2022.  He was born, raised and lived on Long Island, New York until 1997 when he and his wife moved to Manasquan, NJ.

John attended Valley Stream Public Schools and graduated from The State University of New York at Farmingdale. He went on to a prominent career as an executive first starting with New York Telephone Company and later ending with American Telephone & Telegraph. 

All will remember John for his love of music and singing as well as his great sense of humor and infectious laugh.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean E. (nee Frankel) Fastenau on June 7, 2021; his parents, Frederick and Laura (nee Tremberger) Fastenau; his siblings, Frederick Fastenau, Dorothy Keen and Laura Borgelt.

He was the loving father of daughter, Jeanette Hartmann and her husband, Martin of Garden City, NY, and son, John M. Fastenau, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Loveladies, NJ.  He was the cherished grandfather of John M. "Jack" Fastenau III, Sarah Grace Fastenau, James Ryan Fastenau and Eric Robert Hartmann.

A Memorial Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 1-4 p.m. with a Memorial Service being held at 3:00 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall, NJ.  A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, Garden City, NY followed by the inurnment at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, NY.
