John David White, age 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2022 in his home at The Wellington Estates assisted living facility in Spring Lake, New Jersey after a long illness.
Born John David Bianco at Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn, New York on December 6, 1953, son of James Anthony Bianco and Josephine Salek, John grew up on Warren Street in downtown Brooklyn. He was baptised at Saint Agatha's RC Church, attended Public Schools 261 and 6 and John Jay High School in Park Slope.
After completing a full curriculum of maritime training at The Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship at Piney Point, Maryland, John worked as a licensed tankers man operating barges and tugboats between Houston and Louisiana. After living in Houston, Texas and working at the National Marine Service for a number of years, John moved back east and settled in New Jersey. He worked for GATX-Kinder Morgan, located in Carteret, New Jersey for 27 years, as an operations supervisor overseeing the chemical division.
John was very social and enjoyed playing pool and poker. He regularly watched sports, especially his favorite teams, the New York Yankees and Jets. He loved going to the movies and listening to music. He had varied taste in music from Jazz and Motown to the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. He liked to eat out and especially enjoyed Italian, Chinese and Puerto Rican cuisine. But the most special experiences in his life were the times he shared with his daughter, Jillian, vacationing and doing a variety of fun things together.
John is predeceased by his parents, Josephine and James, and his beloved Aunt Agnes "Elsie" Sprangle, also known as Grandmama. He is survived by his loving daughter, Jillian White, his former wife and care manager, Sharon Kiernan, his big brother, James, and James' fiance, Janet Rispoli, along with many dear relatives and friends.
Funeral services were provided by O'Brien Funeral Home in Wall, New Jersey with a private cremation to follow. The family intends to commemorate John's life at a future date.
