Obituary for Joseph Thomas Goodhart Jr.

Joseph T. Goodhart, Jr, 88, of Wall, N.J., passed away peacefully on February 16, 2014, at Meridian Subacute Center, with his family by his side.
Born in Bayonne, Joseph resided there before moving to the Wall area. He was a veteran of the Army serving during WW II and held numerous auto sales and managerial positions with Stuart Chevrolet, Charlie Collins Chevrolet, and the DiFeo Auto organization. While in Bayonne, he was active in many community groups including serving as Chairman of both the Bayonne Housing Authority and the Bayonne Chapter of the National Conference of Christians and Jews.
He was a communicant of St. Catharine Catholic Church, Spring Lake, where he served as an usher for many years.
Joe was an avid bowler, Bocce player and a Yankees and Giants (football) fan.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Josephine Goodhart (Gardella), his sister, Camille Yanni and his son-in-law, Thomas Matthews.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Aline O’Donnell Goodhart and his 6 children, Sharon (Stephen) Ertz, Summit, N.J., Brian (Angela) Goodhart, Potomac Falls, VA, William (Sonya) Goodhart, Kingwood, TX, Celeste Goodhart, Estero, FL, Colleen Matthews, Chatham, N.J. and Madonna (Bobby) Harrold, Surprise, AZ. He was the loving Grandfather of Jeffrey (Erin) and Lauren Ertz, Nicholas, Rebecca and, Christopher Goodhart, Jordan and Dylan Norcross and Riley Goodhart and Great Grandfather of Ethan and Wyatt Ertz.
Visiting will be Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 3-6 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at St. Catharine Catholic Church, 215 Essex Ave, Spring Lake, N.J. Entombment will follow in St. Catharine Cemetery Mausoleum, Sea Girt
