Joseph Kelly, age 82, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Born in Passaic, New Jersey, Joseph was raised in Bergen County. He has resided in Wall Township for the last 37 years. Joseph attended Lyndhurst High School lettering in football, basketball, and baseball. He then went on to Brown University where he lettered in basketball and baseball, graduating in 1961.

Joseph worked as the Vice President of the Bakery and Frozen Food divisions, retiring as the Logistics Manager for General Merchandise for Wakefern Food Corporation after 39 years of service. During his tenure he received the Shop Rite Fellowship Man of the Year Award in 1990. He was avid fisherman and loved watching college football, especially Notre Dame. He spent many years organizing the food tent for at the Special Olympics of New Jersey, feeding the athletes and spectators. Joseph loved spending his time coaching his children’s baseball and softball little league teams for South Wall and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s athletic events.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia, his parents Joseph J. Kelly Sr. and Alice Kelly, and his brother James Kelly.

Surviving is his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Jane Kelly; children, Joseph J. Kelly, III and his wife, Ilana, James E. Kelly, Charles A. Schirmer and his wife, Amanda, Lorin Sogluizzo and her husband, John, Erin McKee, and Jennifer Cosentino and her husband, Kevin; brothers, John Kelly and his wife, Ginger, and Jeffrey Kelly and his wife, Janet, and sister-in-law Judy Kelly; 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Visiting will be Tuesday, May 31 from 5-8 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered Wednesday, June 1st at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church, 215 Crescent Pkwy., Sea Girt, NJ.
