Joseph C. Schengrund, Sr., 89, loving husband, father, grandfather and lifelong resident of Wall, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He served honorably for the United States Air Force. Worked as an engineer for AT&T Bell Lab for 30 years. In Joseph’s spare time he enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, the outdoors, reading about ancient history, and spending time with his family.  Joseph attended Fifth Avenue Bible Chapel in Belmar.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Helen Schengrund; and brothers, David Schengrund and Peter Schengrund. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gayle Schengrund; daughter, Pamela J. Schengrund of Brick; sons, Joseph C. Schengrund II and his wife, Carol of Jackson, and Timothy J. Schengrund and his wife, Linda of Spring Lake; grandchildren, Joseph C. Schengrund III and his wife, Rebecca of PA, Eric C. Schengrund of Jackson, Anna C. Schengrund of Jackson, Leigh A. Avery and her fiancé, Ryan Wytanis of East Windsor, and Lydia J. Schengrund of Spring Lake.

A visitation for Joseph will be held at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35 at New Bedford Road, on Sunday, November 6, 2022, from 12:00 to 2:00PM. A graveside service will be held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle NJ Veteran Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road,   Arneytown on Monday, November 7th, 2022, at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions in Joseph’s name may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
