Kathleen M. Dacey, 78, formerly of Brielle, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022, at the Chelsea at Brick.

Kathy was born in Newark to Leo J. and Estelle (nee Kirkleski) Dacey. She grew up in Nutley above the family business, Dacey’s Tavern, and graduated from Nutley High School.  Many years ago, she and her mother moved to Brielle, where they lived for many years, before they relocated to Stuart, Florida. After her mother’s death, Kathy returned to the Jersey Shore, to be closer to her nephew and niece. She lived in Greenbriar, Brick, before moving to Chelsea at Brick recently.

Kathy enjoyed her career as a supermarket clerk, both at Shop-Rite in New Jersey and Publix in Florida, before retiring. But her greatest joy was being Aunt Kathy to her nephew and niece, and subsequently to their children. She enthusiastically followed their educational and career accomplishments, and especially enjoyed holiday dinners with their families.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was predeceased by her brother, Leo Dacey. She is survived by her nephew, Leo Patrick Dacey, Esq., his wife Kelly, and their children Abaigeal and Nolan, of Wall, and her niece, Meghan Walker, her husband David, and their children Grace and Jack, of Oceanport. Kathy is also survived by her former sister-in-law, Kathleen Ahl, of Wall, who along with Patrick and Meghan were instrumental in managing Kathy’s medical care as her health declined. She is also survived by a brother, Dennis Dacey of Key West, FL, and several cousins, one of whom she remained close to, Patty Russo of Montville, NJ.
