Obituary for Kenneth R. Zelinski

Kenneth R. Zelinski, 69, of Wall passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Kenny was born in Jersey City and moved to Point Pleasant at age 3, where he continued to live before moving to Wall in 2019. Kenny attended St. Peter’s Elementary School in Point Pleasant Beach, Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, and received a BA and MA from Monmouth University, a MA from Farleigh Dickenson University, and a Certificate in School Psychology from Georgian Court University.

Kenny retired in 2013 as an elementary school guidance counselor for the Howell Township Board of Education. Over the years, Kenny worked at the Gribling Elementary School, Ardena Elementary School and the Adelphi Elementary School all in Howell Township. Prior to Howell, he worked as a guidance counselor at the Middletown High School, Lavallette Elementary School, and St. Catharine’s Grammar School, Spring Lake. He also was an Adjunct Professor at Monmouth University teaching education courses for many years and during the summer months, conducted student psychological testing and evaluations for grades K – 8.

Kenny enjoyed, above all, spending time with his loving family. He loved the beach, dining out, watching the Raiders and Celtics, and sharing his knack for gardening. He had a passion for American history, specifically American Wars and Battles. He spent years building dioramas of battle re-enactments which have been displayed in numerous libraries and museums. Kenny also participated in re-enactments of the Battle of Monmouth and the Battle of Allaire Village. Kenny loved traveling, and, when home, spending time with his fur friend, Buttons. Kenny was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Olga Zelinski. Surviving is his loving wife of 33 years, Anne Moskal Zelinski; son, Edward Marc Zelinski of Wall; brother-in- law, Edward Moskal of South Bend, IN; sister-in-law, Frances Moskal of Piscataway, NJ; as well as nieces and nephews, Angelo Peters, Christina Moskal, and Thomas Moskal.

Visiting will be on Monday from 2 - 6pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday 10:30am at St. Catharine’s Church Spring Lake, followed by interment at Saint Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt.
