Obituary for Louis C. Hansen

Louis C. Hansen, 83 of Neptune City passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Neptune, he was a lifelong resident of Neptune City. When his children were younger, he was very proud of coaching Neptune City youth basketball and was a Boy Scout Leader.

He was very active in many civic organizations throughout the Jersey Shore area, he was a life member of the American Legion Post # 346, Neptune, the Asbury-Wall Elks Lodge # 128 and he was most active as a life member of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh, Belmar, serving as a Trustee Emeritus.

Despite all the time he spent with his various organizations, his true love was for the care and well being of his family and friends.

Louis was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and went on to work for over 43 years at Sandy Hook National Seashore, retiring in 2007 as the Facilities Manager. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belmar and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.

He was predeceased by his daughter Brenda Laird, his parents Gunnar and Ingrid (nee Olesen) Hansen and his siblings Charles Wikfors, George and Henry Hansen and Susie Emmanuel.

Surviving is his devoted wife of 55 years Beverly (nee Casey) Hansen, his son Kurt G. Hansen of Washington, DC and his daughter Kristin Huapaya of Neptune, his brother Wally Hansen of Neptune City, his 2 sisters Dorothy Filos of Neptune, and Barbara Coffee of Wrightstown, and his 5 cherished grandchildren Delaney and Jake Laird, Logan and Riley Huapaya, and Harper Hansen, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd.,Wall.

A Funeral Procession will leave from the Hansen residence in Neptune City on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 1:15pm to the Brigadier General William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Wrightstown. There will be USMC military honors rendered at the cemetery at 2:30pm.
