Madeline M. MacIver, age 86, of Spring Lake Heights, NJ, passed away on October 17, 2020, after a long life filled with family, love, and laughter.
Born and raised in Manhattan, New York, she was the daughter of the late Bridget Cosgrove Danker and Owen Danker. Madeline was predeceased by her loving husband of 32 years Kenneth MacIver, her sister Jean Marie Hanley, her sister Carol Danker, and her much beloved grandson Christopher Andrew Canavan.
Madeline will be greatly missed by her four children: Patricia A. Canavan, Barbara J. MacIver-Richmond MD and her husband John S. Richmond MD, Kenneth W. MacIver and his wife Marguerite MacIver, and Eileen V. MacIver-Mars and her husband Kenneth B. Mars. Madeline was a loving and devoted Grandmother and Mimi to all of her grandchildren: Evan Canavan, Alexis Richmond, Kenneth I. MacIver, Ryan MacIver, Kaitlin MacIver, Kenneth A. Mars and Jillian Mars. She is also survived by her loving brother John Danker, his wife Winifred, her sister Eileen Ruane, ten nieces and nephews and eight grandnieces and grandnephews.
Madeline retired to Spring Lake Heights, New Jersey in 1999, after a long and rewarding career with Unilever Research. Retirement didn’t last long for Madeline as she soon found Spring Lake Beach, South End Pavilion. There she was known and adored by everyone who came in contact with her. She absolutely adored working there every summer for 22 years. During the school year she worked at Old Mill Elementary School, Wall, NJ. There she was surrounded by children whom she loved dearly. Madeline, or Maddie as she was known to her family & friends, was a beloved member of the Spring Lake Community and a devoted parishioner of Saint Catharine’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake, New Jersey.
This world will never see another woman more tenacious, determined, hardworking, supportive, loyal and loving as Madeline. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten by her family, friends, and all who knew here.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 22, 2020, at 10:30AM Saint Catharine’s Church 215 Essex Avenue, Spring Lake, NJ 07762.
Viewing will be private at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 NJ-35, Wall, NJ.
Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 10 W Stevens Avenue Hawthorne, New York Westchester County New York. Due to the Covid-19 executive orders of Gov. Murphy, please be mindful that all gatherings must follow capacity limitations, the wearing of masks, and the maintenance of social distancing.
In lieu of Flowers donations can be made to The Madeline MacIver Memorial Lunch Fund at The Old Mill School, Wall, NJ. This fund will cover the cost of lunch meals for any student who is without a lunch or whose account has reached a zero balance or has fallen below zero.
