Obituary for Margaret "Peggy" Krauss (O'Donnell)

Margaret “Peggy” O’Donnell Krauss, of Sea Girt, entered into eternal rest at home with her family by her side on Tuesday, February 16, 2021.
Peggy was born at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City to the late Vincent and Christine O’Donnell. She grew up in Paterson and enjoyed spending her summers with friends at the Jersey Shore where she met and eventually married Kenneth A. Krauss. They moved to Sea Girt in 1960.
She was a graduate of Benedictine Academy and went on to earn a degree in Economics at Caldwell College. Upon graduation she went to work for the Bell Telephone Company. While residing in Sea Girt, Peggy was the librarian at the Sea Girt Lighthouse for many years, before working for John B. Wright Agency.
Peggy was an active member of the St. Mark’s Social Concerns Committee which involved knitting prayer shawls, donating her time with Helping Hands and Co-Chairing the Bereavement Group. She volunteered weekly at the Mercy Center in Asbury Park. She especially loved Friday night cards, book club, and a competitive game of bridge! Peggy was an avid golfer, and went on many road-trip adventures over the years with her dear friends. She thoroughly enjoyed entertaining, baking, and never disappointed with her dishes, especially her famous crab cakes. She loved sports, especially watching golf and was a New York Giants Football season ticket holder for decades. Some of her many passions were reading, going to the beach, and most of all adored doting on her beautiful grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kristen.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Kenneth A. Krauss in 1977, and her brother Vincent “Vinny” O’Donnell. Peggy is survived by her two children, her daughter, Kristine Varcoe and husband Robert of Sea Girt, and her son, Kenneth Krauss and wife Marybeth of Brielle, and her loving grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kristen Krauss. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy O’Donnell of Deal and her loving nieces and nephews, Ann Mary, Michael, Betsy, Richard, Patty, and Alice.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mark’s Church in Sea Girt, on Saturday, March 13, at 9:30 a.m. If you are unable to attend in person, but would wish to view via Livestream, please go to http://www.stmarkseagirt.com and click the link.
