Obituary for Margaret "Marge" Jacobi (DiFabio)

Margaret “Marge” Jacobi (nee DiFabio) passed away peacefully on February 5, 2022. She was 89 years young.

Marge was born in Kenilworth and lived there most of her life before moving to Marco Island Florida in 1994.  For many years, she prepared Sunday and holiday dinners for the entire family.  She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, reading, trips to the Jersey shore and crossword & sudoku puzzles.  She had a loving relationship with her Aunt Liz who lived across the street sharing trips to the supermarket and impromptu lunches.

After moving to Florida, Marge spent many days going to Resident’s Beach.  She adored having her children and their families join her for a vacation on Marco.  There was nothing like doing a newspaper puzzle with Grammy on the beach, swimming in the gulf, going to an early bird dinner or sitting around the kitchen table playing a family card game.

Marge was a devout Catholic attending St. Theresa’s in Kenilworth and San Marco Church on Marco Island.  She was a wonderful, kind person who never had a harsh word for anyone. Her mantra was “If you don’t have anything nice to say, say nothing at all”. Her family will miss her terribly, but she is happily with her husband Gene and daughter Marilyn playing Gin Rummy.

Marge graduated from Jonathan Dayton Regional High School in Springfield and displayed a lifelong strong work ethic in several administrative positions before her retirement.  Marge loved her family and believed her most important job was as a mother to her five children and a Grammy to 9 grandchildren and Great Grammy to 8 children.

Marge is reunited in heaven with her husband Gene Jacobi, her daughter Marilyn McAuliffe, her parents Josephine & Frank Di Fabio and her sister Kathleen Carroll.  She is survived by her sister Alice Grunder (Bob), her children: Barbara Marchione (Ralph), Peg Broyles, Eugene Jacobi (Maureen) and Jayne Stroin (Tom), her grandchildren: Tom McAuliffe (Kathleen), Erin Marabuto (Carl), Ali Marchione, Kat Lorenz (Paul), Kevin Jacobi (Erjola), Marilyn Jacobi, Jake Schlingman (Luly), Maddie Stroin and Griffin Stroin, great-grandchildren: Morgan, Riley, Vincent, Adrian, Kaylin, Brayden, Luke and Maisie,  brothers and sisters-in-law Jim and Gloria Jacobi, Mary Lou Jacobi and Ginger Estwanick and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Marge’s life will be planned for a later date.  Along with your thoughts and prayers, donations to your favorite charity or to the Alzheimer’s Association  in Marge’s memory would be appreciated.
