Margaret Caron McDermott, 21+, of Sea Girt, NJ died Friday, October 26, 2019 at Sunnyside Manor, Wall after a long battle with Alzheimers. Born in Newark, NJ, Margaret grew up and married in Belleville, NJ and raised her family in Hazlet, before moving to Sea Girt in 1993. She worked as an executive secretary for AT&T, Holmdel, NJ until her retirement. Margaret loved Irish step-dancing and singing and was a member of the Women of Irish Heritage. Margaret was also very athletic. She was an all state basketball player while in high school, accomplished bowler and golfer including having a hole in one! She loved being with all of her family and solving the world's problems with her sisters. Margaret was a parishioner of St. Denis Church, Manasquan.
Surviving Margaret are her husband of 61 years, John “Jack” McDermott, four children, Peggy Houseman and her husband Andrew Folchetti, John McDermott and his wife Allmond, Nancy McDermott and her husband Ray Ringen, Mary Evans and her husband John, sister Kathleen Gallagher and her husband Sean, seven grandchildren, Caron, Matthew, Daniel, Kyle, Erin, Jake, and Shannon. She also leaves three great grandchildren, Skylar, Nolan, Brody, and her siblings in laws, Patty Caron and Paul Gross, dozens of adoring nieces, nephews and numerous loving cousins in America and Ireland. Margaret was predeceased by her siblings, Ellen Sweeney and her husband Hugh, Jack Caron, Joan Robson and her husband Donny, and Doris Gross.
Margaret's family will always be grateful to the staff of Sunnyside Manor for their extraordinary and loving care! We can not thank them enough for the years of care they provided.
Visiting will be Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 4-8 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, October 30, 2019, 10 AM at St. Denis Church, 90 Union Ave., Manasquan, NJ. Committal will follow in St. Catharine Cemetery Mausoleum, Wall.
